Eric Fluette, a conservation officer, was on his way to pick his first canine partner. Fluette was a little nervous in his quest to find his dog partner as he knows it won’t be easy. Lt. Bill Boudreau accompanied Fluette to help him make the right decision.
Since all of their canines were donated, they were on their way to Rise and Shine Retrievers who was kind enough to donate a labrador puppy of their choosing. When the officers got there, there were a few labradors to choose from.
The officers did a few tests with the puppies to check their personality and perseverance. This helps them determine which puppy is appropriate for the job. Fluette took his time in choosing as he wanted to make sure he chose the right one.
For others, it may be as ordinary as choosing a pet, and it’s different for these officers. They need to make sure that the puppy they choose is the right one for them because they will be with that puppy for the next ten years or more.
The puppy that they will choose will grow up to be their canine partner in their quest for protection and preservation. That is why it is not easy for them to choose. After hours of testing, Fluette went with his guts and chose the puppy he feels would work perfectly with him.
Eventually, Fluette went with the puppy with the red ribbon. He feels good with his choice and is hoping that they can immediately form a bond. These two will be spending years and years together, and Fluette can’t wait for that journey. It’s going to be him and Moxie from then on.
Moxie is his new work partner, and he knows they will be able to work well together.
