An English Bulldog owned by Martha Roelkey was named after Kirby Smart, Georgia Bulldogs Football Team’s coach. Kirby, the pooch, visited the team during the Georgia-Notre Dame game on Saturday. He met the team’s mascot, Hairy Dawg and their reunion went immediately viral.
The Bulldogs won 23-17 over Notre Dame’s Fighting Irish. The game was broadcasted over ESPN’s show, College GameDay. The TV show managed to catch the heartwarming moment when Kirby cuddled with Hairy Dawg. Aside from Georgia’s winning moment, the dog’s adorable meetup was probably one of the highlights of the show.
The six-month-old pooch was enjoying his time with the mascot. His interaction with Hairy Dawg was so adorable that the precious moment melted people’s hearts. Photographer Blane Marable was so delighted with them that he decided to post a video of the two on his Facebook account.
On the clip, Hary Dawg was sitting while Kirby kept playing with him. The two seemed to enjoy each other’s company, especially Kirby, who looked like he had the time of his life.
The video has been viewed for over 7.3 million times as of this writing. It also gained over 357,000 reactions, 85,000 shares and 21,000 comments. Here’s the adorable clip:

According to Kirby’s owner, Roelkey, Hairy Dawg kept petting Kirby, and the pooch simply loved it. Kirby wanted to keep playing with the Bulldog’s mascot. Roelkey added that at first, Kirby thought that Hairy Dawg was a huge chew toy. But, when the mascot sat and petted the pooch, Kirby was overjoyed, and it’s as if he doesn’t want to leave the mascot’s side anymore.
Roelkey didn’t expect that Kirby and Hairy Dawg’s friendship will touch a lot of people’s hearts. She added that she is grateful for Blane. Through Kirby, she could help put smiles on people’s faces.
Thank you to Blane Marable for sharing this beautiful video.
