There are some videos on the Internet where we see a poor pup being trapped inside a car on a sunny day. Bystanders cannot do anything about it since it was illegal before to free them.
But thanks to the official in Tennessee, there is at least a place now where it is legal to free these trapped dogs. Good people can now free them and they won’t face any charges!
This law was passed with the same legal argument of other Good Samaritan laws. This includes freeing a trapped child inside a hot car without legal consequences.
As of now, there are also currently 16 states that have the same laws. These include Illinois, West Virginia, North Dakota, and California.
Also a big thanks to the advocates for spreading awareness regarding this matter. Before, it may seem not a problem, but as time goes on, we can see a lot of trapped dogs inside cars and this is very dangerous.
One of these is PETA where they made articles regarding the topic and also posted a video. In the video, Tyrann Mathieu, an NFL star, locked himself inside a car on a hot summer day to demonstrate how dangerous it can be.
It can be seen that the moment he got inside the car, he already started fanning himself. And within just 6 minutes, the temperature rose to 113 degrees.
Now imagine if it is your dog who will experience that blazing heat.
What will happen is, the temperature will rise inside the car. According to PETA, the temperature inside the car can rise up to 100 degrees in just minutes on a 78-degree day.
This can cause heatstroke to a dog or brain damage. A dog can be dead within 15 minutes when suffering heatstroke.
Beating the heat is extra work for your dog as it can only cool itself by panting. And there are a lot of recorded deaths regarding this situation where a dog was left alone in a parked car.
You can just choose to leave your pup at home when it is hot outside and you need to go out. If bringing your dog with you is inevitable and you need to leave them inside the car for a quick trip to the grocery, make sure that your car’s AC is on and there is water available for your canine bud.
