Shelter dogs have their own stories. Like humans, I think sometimes a transformation is also needed for dogs to start anew and to move on from their past.
For humans, especially the women, it is a big deal if someone changed their look. It can mean that they are starting a new self.
Now imagine what grooming and a haircut will do for the shelter dogs?
With the number of intakes shelters receive each year, it is really difficult for all of them to be adopted and find a forever home. That is why a groomer from New York City decided to help these dogs by giving free haircuts and baths.
Mark Imhof do his volunteer work at the Animal Care Centers (ACC). He is originally a consultant, but quit this job and pursued the thing he is passionate about which is about working with animals.
His fiancee played a vital role in this decision. Imhof started his passion by enrolling at the American Academy of Pet Grooming.
And as a practice for this, he started volunteering at the ACC shelter. In the times when he did his volunteering at the shelter, Imhof realized how much a grooming session can change these poor dogs.
And that also started his free work for these fur babies. Imhof continued doing his volunteer work at the ACC even after he completed his course.
He started giving free grooming session to dogs as much as he could. He helps them raise their chance of being adopted by transforming these canine buddies.
Imhof has his own shop now where he offers dog-walking, pet-sitting and grooming business. However, his volunteer work at the shelter still goes on.
He hopes that by his transformation work on these dogs, people will realize that all they really need is love. And that all dogs deserve a second chance in life.
