Joseph Inabnet shared the heartwarming story of the support and empathy he received from a local pet store after asking for a refund for the unused dog food.
After his dog, Bailey crossed the rainbow bridge, he returned the unopened bag of dog food to Chewy, the local pet store. However, the response he received was unexpected.
The local pet store told him to just donate the food to shelters or other pet owners with dogs, yet they still gave him the refund he asked. Since this reply is unexpected and not ordinary, Joseph thought that he will not hear from them again.
But he was wrong, as Chewy was just starting to show Joseph amazing support during his time of grief. What happened after the unconventional reply for the refund is more unexpected.
Joseph received a package from the pet store after a few days. Puzzled, he opened the package and found a gift inside.
The touching gift was a card and an oil painting of Bailey.
The card has a message that says, “It’s hard to say goodbye to a loved one. They will always be remembered and cherished. With heartfelt sympathy, ‘Pets come into our lives, leave Paw Prints on our hearts and we are forever changed.’

Joseph then made a Facebook post about this story to show how thankful and grateful he is for the unexpected support from the pet store.
In just a few days, the said post went viral with the overwhelming number of shares and likes. The Chewy store received the recognition they truly deserved.
The post looked like an ad for Chewy as people who have read it said that they will be their customer from now on. Other people who have also experienced Chewy’s amazing customer service and empathy commented about their experience.
