When Aladdin, the pit bull, was rescued, he was at his worst condition. His previous owner seemed to starve him. The vet has detected many health problems like orthopedic issues and missing teeth. Aladdin can’t move his back legs, which makes it hard for him to sit like an average dog. He had to lay on his side so he can comfortably sit.
When Michele Schaffer, Aladdin’s mom, first saw him at the shelter, he looked up to her and started wagging his tail. He seemed happy. After a year under her care, Aladdin became a therapy dog. Aladdin loves people, especially kids. He makes unforgettable connections with them, which gave Michele the idea to make Aladdin a therapy dog.
He’s one of the first responders at the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando. When he got there, Aladdin pulled his mom towards a grieving man sitting outside the club in his attempt to give him comfort. The man told Michele that Aladdin seemed to know that he needed him.
And because the person who abused him was never put behind bars, Aladdin is doing his best to make sure that other animals will not suffer the way he did. He participated in getting a law passed against animal abuse, and she was so happy about this accomplishment.
As of today, he is still doing his best to make people see that pit bulls are not vicious. That they are just adorable souls wanting to be loved and that they have all the right to be treated right.

After all the things that he has done for others, Aladdin’s hard work has ultimately paid off. He won as the Therapy Dog of the Year by the American Humane Association, and his mom couldn’t be more proud. She was so happy for Aladdin!
They didn’t have any idea that after this, another blessing will happen. After the awarding ceremony, a Doctor approached Michele telling her that she will do Aladdin’s surgery for free. She couldn’t contain her happiness after hearing the good news!
The doctor wanted Aladdin to continue his good deeds without pain. And up until now, he’s still doing an excellent job of helping people in his amazing unique way.
