One of the main reasons why dogs are our best friends is because they can do some jobs for us. They can herd sheep and cattle, detect drugs and bombs, and they can fetch things that we need. In some occasions, having them fetch things for us, has an added entertainment value that everybody loves.
The Las Vegas Aviators, a Minor League team, employed a furry friend to fetch bats. As mentioned earlier, it’s not necessary for them to do this job, but it has a bonus effect that gets crowds cheering every time the dog fetches the bat, and he does it pretty well, too.
His name is Finn. The black Labrador has been the bat dog for the Las Vegas Aviators since 2016. The way he quickly disposes of bats won the hearts of the fans, and he is deemed as an integral part of the team. Just like every fan-favorite of any sport, anyone who makes problems for them will hear it from the home crowd.
On this occasion, it’s the umpire. Umpires are used to getting booed by fans, this is common if you watch baseball. But the intensity of the boo that this umpire has received was remarkable. It goes to show how much Finn means to the fans. This umpire has surely learned his lesson.
Unfortunately, he had to learn it the hard way. We’re not sure if this umpire is new or maybe he wasn’t thinking before acting. Possibly the worst booing of his career happened on that fateful evening, and it was all caught on video. The viral video was uploaded by Finn’s official Twitter account.
It has received 4.29 million views and counting. A bat was in the way, and as usual, Finn leaped into action to get it. But before reaching the bat, the umpire picked it up and tossed it to the side. Finn, God bless his sweet soul, still chased after the bat to fetch it. See the video below.
